Badab Sort (Persian: باداب سورت‎) is a natural site in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran. It comprises a range of stepped travertine terrace formations that has been created over thousands of years as flowing water from two mineral hot springs cooled and deposited carbonate minerals on the mountainside.

Badab means carbonated water. The word “Sort” means the intensity of the effect. but Sourt here, is name of a place.

The historic, civilized and beautiful countryside of Areost is composed of several old neighborhoods. One of this neighborhoods is Sourth. it has been in the past a very far-off Zoroastrian neighborhood called Sourt Lengeh. It is said that the Zoroastrians used to worship God above these springs with specific customs.
Badab Sort’s springs are two distinct mineral springs with different natural characteristics, located at 1,840 meters (6,040 ft) above sea level. The first spring contains very salty water that gathers in a small natural pool; its water is considered to have medicinal properties, especially as a cure for rheumatism and some types of skin diseases and skin conditions. The second spring has a sour taste and is predominately orange mainly due to the large iron oxide sediments at its outlet.

Another similarity to the springs of Badab Sort is that, it is similar to dancing. which means that is a dance of wind and water. So that any part of the wind blows, the water also moves on the same side on the stairs.

The people of the village of Arwest have chosen the name of the spring of Surat the Golden Palace, because of its golden color. Of course, this does not mean the existence of the palace next to the springs! According to surveys, the springs of Surat Areost are unique in the world due to its unique features, and it can be claimed that there is no other spring like this on this planet. Compare yourself!
